I did not know Dave well as a friend or colleague, but what I do know of him is that he was a wonderful man. When I donated on his marathon just giving page, he contacted me immediately upon finding out my husband had recently been diagnosed with a brain tumour. He offered me his phone number, friendship, advice and wisdom which meant so much, and helped me to feel less alone. He was so giving, despite fighting his own battles and was on hand to share advice and reassurance about our upcoming chemotherapy regime. His strength, positivity and energy was inspiring.
